Emergency room for victims of sexual violence

Located at the emergency room in Fossvogur. Go to reception and say you need emergency services (due to sexual assault).

The aim of the reception is to ensure the well-being and status of those who seek the service due to rape, attempted rape or other sexual violence.

Can get a medical examination, the help of a psychologist and a lawyer. You completely decide which service you receive. It is good to leave as soon as possible after a violation or attempted violation.
If you do not live in the capital area, you can always call 112.

Heimilisfriður

Treatment resources for individuals who use or have used violence in intimate relationships. Treatment for violence against a partner is subsidized and costs ISK 3,000 each time.

Suspected pregnancy

If you suspect pregnancy (even with a confirmed pregnancy test from a pharmacy), it is most convenient to go to your healthcare provider.

Women's shelter

Shelter for women and their children who could not live at home due to violence. The service is free.

The women's shelter is located in Reykjavík and Akureyri, but is open to all women, regardless of residence or legal domicile.
24/7 phone advice on 561 1205. Women can call and discuss their issues and get support and information.

Indíana Rós

Freelance sexologist. Offers private lessons for individuals and/or couples as well as lessons for various groups.

Career and Guidance Counsellor

In schools, all of them I think, there is an career and guidance counsellor. You can turn to them for various information and advice, and this is often a good first step, if you are in elementary school yourself, or if you have a student in elementary school. Information about study advisors and how to get in touch is usually on the elementary school's website. The link is about study advisors in general.

Barnahús

Barnahús deals with the issues of children who are suspected of having been subjected to sexual harassment or violence. Child protection services are responsible for processing such cases and can request the services of Barnahús.

You can contact us for anything that is on your mind and receive psychosocial support, advice, listening and information about the resources available in Icelandic society.

Resources for people who are concerned about their sexual behavior or who have experienced sexual violence. There is a group of psychologists with expertise in this field who help young people and adults.

Bergið Headspace

Bergið Headspace is a support and counseling center for young people up to the age of 25. Bergið goal is to offer services with an emphasis on support, education and advice. In Bergið, the goal is to create a pleasant and safe environment for young people who want the help of professionals and users with diverse experience. For example, you can search there if you feel bad.

The goal is to improve the well-being and promote the activity of young people in society.

Disability Rights Protection Office

The role of the Disability Rights Protection Office of Iceland is to provide disabled people with appropriate support in protecting their rights and to ensure that they are recognized as persons before the law.

The support can consist of:
-Assistance in claiming one's rights
-Assistance in getting a personal advocate

A Red Cross harm reduction project that everyone can use. The goal is to provide harm reduction services to those who use intravenous drugs and/or are homeless. It offers harm reduction services in the form of healthcare and needle exchange services.

Emergency shelter for homeless people with high service needs. There are two emergency shelters for men, on Lindargatu and on Grandi. Konukot is on the Hlíðar area and is for women and trans people.

Foreldrahús

Vímulaus æska (VÆ) founded Foreldrahús in 1999, but its core activities are counseling, treatment and education.

It offers family counseling, parenting groups and parenting courses, self-strengthening courses for children and teenagers, and supportive treatment for young people with substance abuse problems.

The Pieta Association

Pieta provides first aid, accessible services, support and treatment for those at risk of suicide and a bridge to resources for others. The service is completely free of charge and is available to all those who have reached the age of eighteen.
